The site Avelanède is an old agricultural area of 12 hectares (120,000 m²) near the old village of Artignosc-sur-Verdon. The Verdon river is 3 km from the campsite. The river is also the border between the Var and Alpes de Haute Provence.

It is a large site by its surface and a small campsite by the number of pitches. The sites of the camp today occupy 10% of the area, arranged along the row and edge of old oak thicket. |
The camp has its name from the hazelnut (Avelin in Provençal) and the hazel (Avelanède: hazel grove) which was previously farmed. Now a few shrubs are still there.
The bushes are hazel and large trees are the oaks. There is a cypress and some poplars. |
The pitches ares o open fields, under trees, terraces on the slope of the hills, in a pine tree grove...The site also offers a wide variety of typical landscapes of Provence, of the haute Provence of Jean Giono. This country forms now the nature park of the Verdon river.

The Verdon river has now numerous lakes (Castellane, Sainte-Croix du Verdon, Quinson, Esparron sur Verdon, ...), the country is greener and less dry.
The site Avelanède in the heart of the park of the Verdon. The site is surrounded by agricultural land and afforestation. The departmental road leading to Artignosc-sur-Verdon is the southern boundary of the site. In the north the site is crossed by a forest road leading to the GR99 and then to the village along the ridges and grooves of the Verdon. Or in the other direction, we have the direction of Sainte-Croix du Verdon, along Baudinard and its famous chapel of the 7 departments.

The pitches are spacious, averaging 120 square meters. Most have a square shape, bounded and grass-rich (often it is not so green in August by the summer Mediterranean climate), there are other sites, even less, others more of the facilities, swimming pool and health. Some sites give you the impression, even in high season, you camp into the wild.
Walking across the campsite, will take few minutes. That's like two Parisian metro stations. For the toilets or wash is only half, but some people who prefer to use a bike
Because there are a hundred places on the campsite, we breathe in peace and tranquility.
